ASSOCIATION OF KAKAMEGA CATHOLICS IN DIASPORA
The Association of Kakamega Catholics in Diaspora (ASKCAD) is an umbrella Christian Association bringing together all Catholics whose origin is the Diocese of Kakamega but residing away from its administrative boundaries. We are a non-political and voluntary development group of members brought together for the furtherance of the specific objectives within the Doctrine of the Catholic Church and Kenyan Laws. The Association has evolved since its informal inception in the late 1990s when it was only called upon to aid in addressing specific programs back home in the mother diocese. It gained full registration status under the hand of The Registrar of Societies at the Attorney General’s office on the 12th of January 2016. The Association currently boasts of a membership of over 120 members spread all over from the over 43 parishes back in the Diocese of Kakamega. Recruitment of more members is ongoing and interested potential members can download the Application for Membership Form here. The Association aspires to continue supporting the mother diocese in its development endeavors and ensure the general well-being of established institutions back home. The Association is a stakeholder in the activities of the Diocese of Kakamega whose current spiritual head His Lordship Bishop Rt. Rev Joseph Obanyi Sagwe recognizes as part of his flock. The Bishop is the Patron of the Association. The Association’s Management Committee meets on a regular basis and where necessary the agreed deliberations are shared with our Patron. The Committee deliberates with the Patron on various pertinent issues of development within the larger Diocese of Kakamega.
